A new $4.5 million shopping centre has been approved for the coastal Perth suburb of Mindarie. The West Tamala Park Local Centre, a single-storey commercial hub, will feature six tenancies including retail, dining, fast food, consulting rooms, and potentially a bar or small tavern.
The development, located on a vacant block on Amalfi Avenue next to the South Mindarie Foreshore Reserve, is being developed by Relink Management WA Pty Ltd. The land was purchased in October 2025 through an expression of interest process run by the Catalina Regional Council.
The Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel unanimously approved the application on Wednesday afternoon, following a recommendation from the City of Wanneroo. Vehicle access will be via Amalfi Avenue, with 27 on-site parking spaces provided.
Public consultation earlier this year drew 39 submissions, 17 of which objected, primarily over traffic and parking concerns. Although planning requirements typically call for about 71 parking bays, the City was comfortable with the shortfall, citing available on-street parking and alternative transport options.
Panel members praised the development. Presiding member Eugene Koltasz said it “ticks the boxes of the planning framework” and will benefit local residents. Andrew Howe from the Department of Planning added that it will bring local employment, services, and amenities to the community.
