Tottenham target Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes

Tottenham Hotspur are intensifying their pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali and have entered the race for West Ham United's Mateus Fernandes. The north London club is prepared to meet Newcastle's hefty valuation for the Italy international, while also seeking to outbid Manchester United for Fernandes, a 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder who joined West Ham from Southampton for £38 million last summer.

West Ham, who have been relegated from the Premier League, are expected to lose Fernandes. Manchester United and Real Madrid have also shown interest, but Tottenham are pushing hard and are ready to offer better financial terms than their rivals. Gary O'Neil is set to lead Ipswich Town back to the top flight, while Oxford United have appointed Aaron Ramsey as their new manager.

Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen also on Spurs' radar

Tottenham are also among the clubs tracking West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, who has scored twice for the Netherlands at the World Cup. Chelsea and Manchester United are monitoring the winger as well. Meanwhile, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Everton have expressed interest in West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen, but the Hammers are determined to keep hold of their star player.

Chelsea target Marco Palestra and centre-backs

Chelsea are considering a move for Atalanta right-back Marco Palestra, a major target for Inter Milan. The Serie A champions have been pushing to complete a £38.8 million deal for the 21-year-old, but face competition from Chelsea and another Premier League side. Palestra, who spent last season on loan at Cagliari, has made two appearances for Italy.

Chelsea are monitoring the situation as they look to bolster manager Xabi Alonso's squad. Alonso's current right-back options are Reece James and Malo Gusto, who could be moved on. The Blues are also assessing defensive reinforcements, with Crystal Palace's Maxence Lacroix high on their list of centre-back targets. Lacroix, 26, has attracted interest from other clubs. Chelsea are also considering Como's Jacobo Ramón. They could sign two centre-backs, but that may depend on outgoings, with uncertainty surrounding Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana. Additionally, Alonso needs depth at left-back after Marc Cucurella's departure to Real Madrid.

Other transfer developments

Roberto De Zerbi has been provided with significant funds and is planning two major midfield signings. The transfer window continues to heat up as clubs scramble to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.
