Students from Dianella Heights, North Morley and Camboon primary schools have come together to plant 60 mature trees and more than 450 plants at a Dianella reserve, making a lasting impact on their local environment.
Event at Wrigley Seabrook Reserve
The students joined forces at Wrigley Seabrook Reserve on World Environment Day, which was observed last Friday, June 5. Established in 1973, World Environment Day is a United Nations initiative aimed at raising awareness of environmental issues and encouraging action to protect the environment.
Final Stage of Park Transformation
The event, organized by the City of Stirling, marked the final stage of the park’s transition to a waterwise reserve. This transformation included expanded native garden beds and more efficient reticulation systems. The students also took part in educational and artistic activities, learning about water conservation and creating their own nature-inspired clay creatures.
City of Stirling's Waterwise Recognition
The City of Stirling has been recognized by the Water Corporation as a gold waterwise council since 2016, a status it was recently re-endorsed for earlier this year. This event underscores the city's commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement.
