Eight new social housing apartments in Falcon have been completed, offering modern, accessible, and sustainable homes for individuals and families in need of affordable housing. The two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments are spread across three buildings in the Falcon Village Precinct, constructed by Dale Alcock Projects.
Accessibility and Sustainability Features
All ground floor apartments meet silver level Livable Housing Australia design guidelines, ensuring accessibility and adaptability for residents at different life stages. Environmentally sustainable features include water-wise landscaping with native plants and water-efficient fixtures such as shower heads, tapware, and toilets.
Location and Community Benefits
The complex is conveniently located near supermarkets, specialty stores, food outlets, medical facilities, and public transport connections, enhancing residents' access to daily amenities.
Funding and Partnerships
The project was made possible by a $3.49 million grant from the State Government to Housing Choices WA, a community housing provider managing over 1,850 properties across Western Australia and housing nearly 2,000 people who might otherwise struggle to find affordable accommodation.
Official Statements
Dawesville MLA Lisa Munday said the project demonstrated the positive outcomes of collaboration between the government and community housing providers. Housing and Works Minister John Carey emphasized the importance of providing high-quality homes close to essential services, stating, “These modern apartments will provide residents with high-quality homes close to essential services, public transport and community amenities.”
