Sam Kerr Scores Double in First Chelsea Start in Nearly Two Years

Sam Kerr marked her first start for Chelsea in 692 days with two goals in a 6-0 Champions League victory over Austrian side St. Pölten. The Matildas captain played the full 94 minutes and scored a late brace, her first Champions League goals since late 2023.

Kerr, who returned to the Matildas with starts against Wales and England in late October, said she feels 100 per cent fit and ready for more game time. 'I'm just happy to be back out here playing in the Champions League again with an amazing team,' she told Disney Plus.

Australian teammate Ellie Carpenter assisted the opening goal for Dutch midfielder Wieke Kaptein in the 13th minute. Catarina Macario scored twice, including a penalty, before Kerr found the net either side of a Lisa Ebert own goal.
