Record Crowds and Winners at 2026 Wollongong Aquathon

The 26th annual Wollongong aquathon drew a record crowd of 4000 spectators and over 2500 participants, surpassing the previous entry record by 200. The event featured five races, with Nathan Breen and Audrey Hall winning the long course individual honors in 34:35 and 38:07 minutes, respectively.

In the short course, Derek Garne took the men's title in 15:28, while Tara Holmes led the women in 19:40. Under-10s athlete Benji Mackay impressed in the kids solo race, finishing in 8:56 minutes with a 1:42 swim and 7:14 run.

Event director Rob Battochio praised the community support, noting the record crowd and positive atmosphere. He highlighted the mix of elite triathletes, surf lifesavers, swimmers, and runners, calling some participants 'absolute surprise packets.'
