WA Offers $50k Scholarships to Attract International Students

The Cook Government has announced a new scholarship program offering up to $50,000 to international students who have studied the Western Australian curriculum overseas. The Premier’s WA Certificate of Education (WACE) scholarship aims to attract high-achieving students to the state’s five universities.

The government will allocate $1 million per year to the initiative, which more than doubles a previous bursary. Under the program, two international WACE graduates will receive $50,000 scholarships, while up to 30 overseas students will be awarded $30,000 scholarships.

The scholarship is open to international students who have completed the WACE at one of the many overseas schools offering WA’s high school credential. The School Curriculum and Standards Authority has increased the number of schools licensed to deliver WA curriculum programs in other countries as part of the government’s push to boost international student numbers.
