Woman's Car Towed at JFK Over Unattended Drop-Off

A woman has gone viral after tow trucks took her car away because she left it unattended in the drop-off zone of a busy airport.

Footage has gone viral of a woman's car being towed at New York's John F Kennedy International Airport after she left it unattended in the drop-off zone.

The clip, which has been doing the rounds on social media, shows a stationary BMW blocking the road outside the airport's active drop-off area. A white tow truck then appears, slowly lifts the SUV by its back wheels, and drives it out of the airport, presumably to an impound lot.

Hilariously, the footage then shows a woman running out of the terminal and chasing after her vehicle as it gradually disappears out of sight.

"Stop leaving your cars unattended at JFK Airport when dropping off family," warned the text over the video, shared by social media user FAFO TV.

The clip has exploded online and sparked reactions from thousands of people, many of whom said the "entitled" woman deserved her fate for "selfishly" leaving her car unattended.

"Signs everywhere saying unattended cars will be towed, plus a person on a loop saying not to," one person fumed. "And the fleet of tow trucks as you make the turn into the pick up/drop off areas should be big hints that this would happen... and yet it constantly happens."

"I'm sure these people think they're more important than everyone else, no matter where they are, not just at the airport," another echoed. A third person sarcastically said that the tow truck driver must not have noticed the woman's "park-anywhere lights were flashing."

"Which is why she thought she could park anywhere, 'I was only gone a second'," they joked.

A few people were more sympathetic to the driver, stating that airports should "stop charging so much for parking" in order to avoid similar situations.

"If you're dropping off it should be free. Only time they should tow is if the car is there for like a couple of hours or something," one person on Reddit argued. "There was no need to tow that car. I’m sure [she] was just going to be a minute," another chimed in.

Most airports clearly state that drivers cannot leave their car unattended in a drop-off or loading zone, and those who do will run the risk of getting towed. Drivers who will need to leave their car to drop someone off at the airport must pay to use a designated parking area.
