Dog abandoned during alleged car theft

A man will front court accused of stealing a luxury car and the owner’s pet. Police will allege a man was washing his BMW on Port Rd in Woodville, Adelaide, about 1.30pm on Tuesday when he was threatened with a knife. The unknown man then allegedly drove off in the car, with the owner’s dog inside. The dog was found about an hour later in Lower Light, about 45km north of the initial scene. Police launched an investigation and tracked the car as it continued travelling north before having its tyres deflated on the Augusta Hwy near Germein Bay, another 180km north. A 35-year-old man was arrested soon after and was charged with aggravated robbery. He is expected to appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on Wednesday. Investigations into the matter remain ongoing and anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
