Teen Charged After Assault Leaves Man in Coma

An 18-year-old boy has been charged following a violent assault on Sydney's northern beaches that left a 47-year-old man in a coma for nearly three days.

Incident Details

The alleged attack occurred on Clyde Road in Dee Why around 11pm on Friday. The victim was reportedly set upon by a random group of people and sustained serious facial injuries.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed the man to hospital, where he remained in a coma.

Arrest and Charges

Police launched an investigation into the incident and arrested the 18-year-old suspect at a home in Dee Why on Sunday night. He was later charged with reckless wounding and refused bail.

The teenager is expected to appear before Manly Local Court on Monday.

The victim continues to recover in hospital. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
