Six people were injured in a targeted acid attack in Jersey City, New Jersey, on Monday evening, according to police. The suspects, riding a moped, threw an acidic substance at a group of individuals, initially injuring five, with a sixth victim later identified.
Victims and Injuries
Among the victims are three teenagers. A 21-year-old woman sustained second-degree burns to her face and scalp and was transferred to a local burn unit. The other five victims are in stable condition, Jersey City police reported.
Details of the Attack
The attack occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Monday near 105 Wilkinson Avenue, a residential area. Police believe the substance used was sulfuric acid. The incident appears to be targeted, following an earlier altercation. One minor has been arrested, and charges are pending.

Jersey City Mayor James Solomon condemned the attack, stating, “My thoughts are with those hurt in this horrific attack, and I want our communities to know that violence like this has absolutely no place on our streets.” He directed the Jersey City Police Department to use all resources to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.
