Shots Fired at Melbourne Home

Police have released dramatic footage of a man firing multiple bullets at a suburban home in Melbourne. The masked individual is seen exiting a black SUV and appears to film himself shooting a pistol several times before driving away. The incident occurred at a residence on Elmwood Place in Craigieburn around 1pm on October 24. Fortunately, no one was home at the time. Senior Constable Mitchell Jones expressed relief that no injuries occurred, but noted that police were not notified until January, causing investigations—including ballistics reports—to go cold. Jones added that the homeowners were "obviously quite shocked and concerned" but cooperated with investigators. Police released the footage to generate leads. The suspect is described as wearing a black hooded jumper, black face mask, balaclava, black tracksuit pants with a grey waistband, and black shoes with white soles. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Charges Laid Over Alleged Assault of Elderly Man

A man will face court accused of assaulting an elderly man at a home in Canberra. The 82-year-old victim and his wife had just returned to their residence in Rivett when a young man followed them inside around 5:30pm on Monday. Police allege the 22-year-old became aggressive, pushed the elderly man to the ground, and punched him twice in the face. The suspect also allegedly threatened to kill the older man. The victim was taken to hospital, while the younger man was arrested at the scene. He faces charges of threatening to kill, assault, and refusing to provide identification.

Two More Charged After Alleged Attempted Murder

A second and third person have been charged following an alleged attempted murder in Tasmania. Investigations began after a 29-year-old man was shot in the head and neck on Taree Street in Chigwell, north of Hobart, on April 5. He was hospitalized and later recovered. Police arrested two men, aged 29 and 33, last week. The younger man was charged with attempted murder and refused bail, with a court appearance scheduled for June 25. The older man faces charges of accessory after the fact to attempted murder and was granted bail ahead of an August 31 court date. Another 33-year-old man was arrested in Werribee, Melbourne, in May, extradited to Tasmania, and charged with attempted murder. He remains in custody. Alleged Rampage in Stolen Car Ends With Teen Killed

A horror crash involving an allegedly stolen vehicle has resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy, ending hours of chaos in a regional town. The teen was in the stolen car when it rolled over on the Stuart Highway north of Katherine CBD in the Northern Territory around 6am on Tuesday. He died at the scene despite paramedics' efforts. Three other occupants, all aged 14, were taken to hospital. Police believe the incident capped a series of alleged offenses starting around 10:30pm the previous night. A vehicle was allegedly stolen from a home on Zimin Drive in southwest Katherine, then dumped at Charles Darwin University, where two other cars were taken. "Throughout the evening, the vehicles were observed driving erratically through the Katherine CBD," police said. "The occupants allegedly attempted to provoke police by baiting patrol vehicles and throwing objects at officers, resulting in damage to a police vehicle." Police did not pursue due to dangerous driving. Acting Commander Mark Grieve called the incident tragic and complex, stating, "We are investigating a significant series of offenses, as well as the death of a 16-year-old male following extremely dangerous driving behavior that placed the community at risk." He appealed for information.

Urgent Warning Ahead of Wild Weather

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued multiple warnings as a complex low-pressure system approaches the Bass Strait, bringing intense winds to South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory. Winds up to 133 km/h were recorded at Mount Thredbo in NSW on Tuesday morning, with blizzard conditions warned. Regions above 1900 meters in NSW face damaging winds averaging 80–90 km/h. The Southern, Central Ranges, and Northern Ranges regions should prepare for winds up to 90 km/h. Victoria's Northeastern Ranges may see similar gusts, while South Australia's Flinders and Mount Lofty Ranges could experience peak gusts around 100 km/h. Locals are urged to move vehicles under cover or away from trees, secure loose items, and stay indoors during severe conditions.

Commuters Trapped After Explosion on Train

Dramatic footage captured sparks and smoke filling a train carriage after an apparent explosion on a Melbourne train. Loud pops were heard as commuters fled from sparks on the Craigieburn line in North Melbourne around 6pm on Monday. Metro Trains attributed the incident to an overhead power fault. Delays of up to an hour occurred, but all passengers were evacuated without injury.

Allegedly Stolen Car Spotted Going Twice the Speed Limit

A man has been arrested after an allegedly stolen car led police on a high-speed chase through north Melbourne. Officers spotted the silver Subaru Liberty on Barry Road in Campbellfield around 1am on Tuesday. The vehicle allegedly evaded police at speeds up to 120 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. The car was later abandoned on High Street, about 8 km east, and the driver fled on foot. The Dog Squad located the suspect at a nearby bus stop. A 31-year-old man from Donnybrook was arrested and is expected to be interviewed. Investigators believe the car was stolen from a home in Mickleham in May.

Duo Charged Over Alleged ATM Arson Attack

Two men have been charged after explosives were allegedly used to steal cash from an ATM. A group of three men reportedly used a homemade device to access the machine on Victoria Street in Melbourne's CBD around 2:45am on May 13. However, the explosive ignited in one man's face, causing "serious and life-changing injuries," according to police. About $5,000 was stolen before the trio fled. The injured man was later located on Peel Street. On Monday, police tasered and arrested a 40-year-old man from Brunswick West in connection with the incident. He faces 20 charges, including causing an explosion likely to cause serious injury to property. Another 40-year-old man was arrested on May 29 and charged with theft, using an explosive, and conduct endangering life. Both are expected to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on August 24.

The chase began when a grey sedan failed to stop on Campbelltown Road in Bardia around 9:20pm on Monday. The car continued to McDonald Road in Ingleburn, about 4 km away, where it crashed into a home. No injuries were reported. The alleged driver, a 17-year-old boy, was arrested at the scene and charged with offenses including driving with a suspended license. He is expected to appear at Children's Court on Tuesday.
