A man has been seriously injured in an alleged assault on a busy restaurant strip in Bondi, Sydney's eastern suburbs. Emergency services were called to Bondi Road around 6:45 am on Sunday following reports of an incident.
NSW Ambulance confirmed that a man in his 20s was treated for a wound to his torso before being rushed to St Vincent's Hospital in a serious condition. The exact nature of the wound has not been disclosed, but paramedics provided immediate care at the scene.
Witness account
Matias Furque, a chef and restaurant manager who works nearby, described the incident as "scary." He arrived at the scene to find a large police presence and later reviewed CCTV footage with officers. "We were checking the cameras and suddenly we saw a guy running through here," he told 7NEWS. "He looked so stressed, a little bit scary ... he had a phone in his hand."
Furque also noted that there was a trail of blood along the street, including outside the restaurant where he works. A witness reported seeing a trail of blood stretching along Bondi Road, indicating the severity of the assault.
Police investigation
Police have established a crime scene on Bondi Road and are conducting inquiries. The area has been cordoned off as forensic officers examine evidence. Authorities have not yet made any arrests, and investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
