Man fatally shot after leaving Melbourne nightclub

A homicide investigation is underway after a man was fatally shot in Melbourne’s north west shortly after leaving a nightclub. Emergency crews were called to North Street, Ascot Vale, about 12:15am on Sunday where a man in his 30s was found with suspected gunshot wounds.

Victim died in hospital

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but later died, a Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed. The victim had reportedly left a nightclub with hundreds of other people shortly before he was attacked.

Police homicide squad detectives have established a large crime scene, with evidence markers, the victim’s backpack, and blood still visible at the scene. Three cars in the area are also under investigation.
