ACT Police have arrested a man who allegedly broke into a home in Moncrieff and hid in the roof cavity. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, prompting a response from emergency services.
Details of the Incident
Police were called to a residence on Binowee Street around 7:30 pm after receiving reports of a suspected burglary. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspect had gained entry to the home and concealed himself in the roof space.
The homeowner was not present at the time of the break-in. Neighbors alerted authorities after noticing suspicious activity at the property.
Arrest Made
Police conducted a thorough search of the premises and located the man hiding in the roof. He was taken into custody without incident. The 32-year-old man from Gungahlin was charged with aggravated burglary and trespassing.
He appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody. Police have not disclosed the motive behind the break-in.
