Three Children Found Dead, Fourth Hospitalized
An Idaho woman has been charged with murder after three of her children were discovered dead in their home, and a fourth child was found in critical condition, according to local authorities. The incident occurred in the city of Nampa, roughly 20 miles west of Boise.
Details of the Incident
Police responded to a call at the residence on Monday evening and found three children deceased at the scene. A fourth child was rushed to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition. The children's ages have not been released, but officials described them as young.
The woman, identified as 32-year-old Sarah Johnson, was taken into custody and charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. She is being held without bond at the Canyon County Jail.
Community in Shock
Neighbors expressed disbelief at the tragedy. "It's just heartbreaking. They seemed like a normal family," said one neighbor who asked not to be named. The motive remains unclear, and authorities have not disclosed what led to the incident.
According to Nampa Police Chief Joe Huff, "This is an unspeakable tragedy. Our hearts go out to the surviving child and the extended family. We are working diligently to determine what happened."
Investigation Ongoing
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward. Autopsies will be performed on the deceased children to determine the cause of death. The surviving child is receiving treatment at a local hospital, and officials have not provided updates on their condition.
Johnson is expected to appear in court later this week. If convicted, she faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
