A heroic father has saved his three young children from a devastating house fire in Melbourne's northwest, as detectives investigate whether the blaze was deliberately lit. The family of five fled for their lives when their home in St Albans became engulfed in flames around 7.20pm on Sunday.

Family Escapes Inferno

A mother, father, and their three young children—including a one-year-old baby boy—managed to escape the raging fire. Neighbors rushed to assist as firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.

"I saw the dad pulling the kids out, screaming 'call for help, call for help'," said neighbor Miralem Ekic. "It was wild, I haven't seen anything like that before."

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the extent of the damage quickly became apparent. "Three small kids makes it worse," said neighbor Rennae Bailey. "Having to start over, they've lost everything. Like, they don't know what to do or where to go."

Investigation Underway

The family had only moved into the government-owned house a few months ago. Authorities are now working to determine the cause of the fire. "They don't know where it started. He thinks an electric heater that fell over," Bailey added.

Detectives are treating the fire as suspicious and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
