Police Pursuit Ends in Crash
Police allege drugs were found in a car used to lead officers on a pursuit before it crashed into a fence in South Perth. The incident began around 8:45pm on Thursday when officers attempted to stop a Holden Commodore on Canning Highway using lights and sirens. The driver allegedly fled, prompting a pursuit.
Crash and Arrests
The sedan eventually slammed into a fence near the intersection of Way Road. Police moved in to arrest the driver, but a female passenger allegedly jumped into the driver's seat and attempted to flee. A 37-year-old man from Safety Bay has been charged with reckless driving, no authority to drive, failing to stop, and failing to comply with a direction to stop. He will appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday.
Drugs Discovered
During a search of the vehicle, police allege they found drugs. A 32-year-old woman from Calista faces charges of obstructing public officers, possessing methamphetamine, and having no authority to drive. She will appear in court on August 12. A second man, a 34-year-old from Medina, was charged with methamphetamine possession and will face court on August 3.
