A disqualified driver has allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading six times the legal limit in New South Wales. The 29-year-old man has been charged with high-range drink driving after police stopped a van in the state’s south.
Incident details
Officers from Albury Highway Patrol were called to Holbrook Road at Mangoplah, about 36 kilometres from Wagga Wagga, at approximately 10:45 am on Monday following a driving complaint. Police pulled the van over near the intersection of Granville Lane and spoke with the driver.
The male driver underwent a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result. He was subsequently arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station. A secondary test at the station allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.302, more than six times the legal limit of 0.05.
Further checks
Further checks revealed that the man held a Victorian driver’s licence and was disqualified from driving until January 2030. He was charged with high-range PCA (prescribed concentration of alcohol) and driving while disqualified.
The man was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Bail Division Court 5 on Tuesday.
