Bow and Arrow Man at ACT Park Under Police Probe

Police are seeking witnesses after a man was allegedly caught shooting a bow and arrow at a popular recreation area in south Canberra.

About 5.10pm on Reconciliation Day, June 1, ACT Policing officers were on patrol on Cotter Avenue when a member of the public approached police and reported the man.

Police allege the man was carrying a bow and arrows, and a knife. Pictures supplied show the weapons. It is alleged the man was shooting arrows near other people in the Cotter Dam area.

When police spoke to the man, it is alleged he was also carrying a knife. Police seized the weapons, and the man was not charged or arrested.

An ACT Policing spokeswoman said they were investigating the incident and wanted to speak to anyone who witnessed the man's actions or confrontations with other people. The Cotter Avenue recreation area offers a range of amenities, multiple walking trails, unobstructed views of the Cotter Dam, and often hosts crowds and family gatherings during holiday periods.
