Bonner Man Arrested for Allegedly Threatening Witnesses
A 35-year-old man from Bonner has been taken into custody by ACT Policing, accused of threatening witnesses connected to a legal matter. The arrest occurred on Tuesday following an investigation into the alleged intimidation.
Police allege the man made threats against individuals who were due to give evidence in a court case. The threats were reportedly made in an attempt to influence their testimony.
The accused was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and two counts of threatening to cause harm. He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Detective Acting Inspector Stephen Ladd said the arrest sends a clear message that witness intimidation will not be tolerated. “Threatening witnesses is a serious offence that undermines the justice system,” he stated. “We will take firm action against anyone who seeks to interfere with the administration of justice.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have urged anyone with information to come forward. The man’s identity has not been released for legal reasons.
