Former Bachelor Tim Robards has divided the internet after sharing a clip of a dodgy park that left him not only annoyed and waiting in the rain to exchange details with the car owner, but also with damage to his own luxury vehicle. The 43-year-old took to Instagram this week to ask his followers if they too thought a white car, parked behind his black Porsche, was a little too close.
Robards' Frustration
“What do you think of this park? Am I the only one who thinks it’s pushing it a little bit?” he asked his followers. “So there’s my car, I’ve come out, there’s this car. I was here first. What do you reckon? Would you leave your car like that? What is going on?”
Looking closer, the Aussie spotted a scrape on his rear bumper. He guessed it’d be a $1000 fix, plus the hassle of being without a car during the repairs. After finally tracking down the vehicle’s owner, apparently an American tourist scheduled to leave the country in just a few hours, the fitness guru was asked to wait a moment to exchange details. But Robards claimed the tourist never returned.
Waiting in the Rain
“I’ve been standing in the rain and the pr*ck just left me here for an hour and he’s just trying to do a runner … I waited around for over an hour and then decided to call the cops,” he ranted. After waiting for authorities to come and investigate, things took an unexpected turn. In an updated clip filmed the following day, Robards explained that he managed to flag down someone in the street who shared a bit more detail about the man who allegedly clipped his car.
“I heard the chicks next door thought this guy was filming a porno, so the story got very interesting,” he shared. Police recommended he report the incident and put a claim through insurance, which he described as a “headache”. news.com.au has contacted NSW Police for comment.
Social Media Reactions
When Robards shared the saga on social media, likely hoping for a little sympathy, his followers were completely divided. Instead of offering support, several users mocked the father-of-two over the minuscule amount of damage to his car.
“Needed a magnifying glass to see the damage. Bloke was a kn*b for parking like he did and running away, but there’s bigger sh*t in life to worry about and bother the police with,” one person commented. “It’s really not that bad! Get over it,” another agreed. And another added: “Time for a tow-bar.”
However, plenty of others jumped to his defence, completely sympathising with his frustration. “It’s frustrating and shows poor morals. I get it,” one wrote. “Stuff like this really grinds my gears. It’s so uncalled for and super rude,” another echoed.
Robards' Response
Robards agreed the situation could have been worse, but noted that it doesn’t make the resulting inconvenience any less frustrating. “I know it’s not a lot of damage but it’s the principle,” he said. “It’s still going to cost me a lot of money – and I’m not made of it.”
