The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) advises residents across Western Australia to enjoy the sunny start to the weekend, as wintry showers and thunderstorms are expected to arrive on Sunday.
Sunny Friday and Saturday Before the Change
Perth will see partly cloudy skies on Friday with a maximum of 19°C and virtually no chance of rain. Saturday will also be dry, with a partly cloudy day reaching 20°C after an overnight low of 7°C. BOM meteorologists note that southern coastal areas east of Walpole and the southern Goldfields may experience a foggy start on Saturday morning.
Thunderstorms and Showers on Sunday
Sunday brings a high chance of rain, with 2 to 5 mm forecast for Perth and a top of 19°C. Showers are expected to develop from southwest of Bunbury to Walpole in the morning, extending to Geraldton and Bremer Bay by midnight. There is also a chance of thunderstorms along the coast between Busselton and Augusta.
Wintry Conditions Continue into Next Week
The wet weather is forecast to persist into early next week, with a high chance of showers across large parts of the state. Monday will see a shower or two with a maximum of 19°C, while Tuesday and Wednesday will be partly cloudy with tops of 20°C. Thursday returns to showers and 19°C.
