A large-scale search is underway for a 30-year-old new mother who disappeared from a home in Toowoomba, Queensland. Jana Armstrong was last seen at a property on Gordon Avenue in Newtown on Tuesday afternoon, sparking concerns from her family and police.
Car Found Abandoned on Same Street
Armstrong's white Hyundai Kona was discovered further down the same street at approximately 6am on Wednesday. Police have since closed off parts of the road as forensic teams and detectives swarmed both the Gordon Avenue home and the vehicle. Witnesses told 7NEWS that her car had been seen in the area dozens of times over the past few days.
Extensive Search Underway
Police and State Emergency Service (SES) crews have been combing through surrounding bushland, with search operations expanded to five different locations around the area. Forensic police have been seen examining Armstrong's car and the home she was last seen in. Police and family hold concerns for Armstrong's welfare, as her disappearance is described as out of character.
Family Caring for Infant Son
Armstrong is the mother of a four-month-old son, who is now being cared for by family members. She is described as approximately 165cm tall with blue eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing a green and white striped Country Road shirt, jeans, and thongs.
