NBN 500 Offers 10x Faster Internet for Just a Few Dollars More

Australians can now access internet speeds 10 times faster than the popular NBN 50 tier for only a few extra dollars per month, thanks to the new NBN 500 speed tier. These plans offer maximum download speeds of 500Mbps and are priced competitively, with the average NBN 500 plan costing around $68 per month compared to $63 for NBN 50.

However, eligibility is limited to households with Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) or Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connections. Those on Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) can get a free upgrade to FTTP by ordering an NBN 500 plan or faster from an eligible provider.

Several providers are offering promotional discounts on NBN 500 plans. Dodo currently has the most popular plan, with a $30 per month discount for the first six months. SpinTel offers a $22.95 monthly discount for six months, after which the price rises to $86.95, but the no-contract plan allows switching before the discount ends. Tangerine provides a $20 monthly discount for 12 months, with the price increasing to $88.90 thereafter; this offer expires December 1, 2025.
