Western Force have secured the services of versatile outside back Mac Grealy for another two years, extending his contract until 2028. The 24-year-old, who joined the club from Queensland before last season, has been a standout performer, particularly in Saturday's 42-19 victory over the Queensland Reds where he scored a spectacular try.
Grealy, who switched from wing to full-back after arriving at the Force, finished second in the league last season for metres gained (878) and sixth for defenders beaten (41), earning an Australia A call-up. He expressed his commitment to the club, stating, 'I want to leave a mark in the west, I didn’t want to be someone who used this place as a stepping stone.'
Force coach Simon Cron praised Grealy's impact both on and off the field, noting his humour and willingness to learn. 'He’s a great player and a great man, who is always wanting to learn and is very receptive to feedback which makes coaching him a pleasure,' Cron said.
The re-signing comes amid a series of departures, with forwards Vaiolini Ekuasi, Darcy Swain, and Franco Molina signing overseas deals. However, the Force have retained key Wallabies forwards Carlo Tizzano, Jeremy Williams, Brandon Paenga-Amosa, Tom Robertson, and Nick Champion de Crespigny beyond this season.
