Gold Coast Suns midfielder Christian Petracca and his wife Bella have announced they are expecting their first child together. The couple shared the joyous news with fans on Monday, posting a smiling image on Instagram that featured an ultrasound of their unborn child.
"Baby boy on the way," the post was captioned, accompanied by egg and blue heart emojis.
The couple relocated to the Gold Coast late last year after Christian sought a trade away from the Melbourne Demons. They received an outpouring of supportive comments from friends, teammates, and fans.
"The best news," the Gold Coast Suns wrote. Former AFLW player Abbey Holmes added, "Yay!! Such lovely news. Congratulations guys." Ex-Melbourne teammate Steven May commented, "Congrats guys." Suns recruit Jamarra Ugle-Hagan said, "The bestttttt. Congratulations!!!"
Christian and Bella, a lawyer, married in December 2024 at Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens, surrounded by Demons teammates. The wedding followed a challenging period for the 221-game veteran, who spent much of the 2024 AFL season recovering from a lacerated spleen, four broken ribs, and a punctured lung sustained during the King’s Birthday clash against Collingwood in June.
The couple became engaged in 2022, with Christian proposing at Italy’s Lake Como. This season, he has played nine games for the Suns.
