Perth Golf Courses Shine in Australia's Top 100 Public Tracks

Joondalup Golf Course has been named the best public golf course in Western Australia, ranking eighth nationally for its Quarry/Dune 18 layout in the latest list compiled by Inside Golf magazine. The Quarry/Lake course also earned a spot at 25, making Joondalup the only WA course with two entries in the top 100. The course's steep walls and challenging bunkers have attracted international visitors, including the English cricket team during The Ashes.

Regional WA courses also performed strongly, with The Cut in Mandurah ranking 20th and Kalgoorlie Golf Course placing 21st. The Cut offers a picturesque links track on the coast where wind often challenges players, while Kalgoorlie hosts the WA PGA Championship and features the famous 3rd hole, 'Midas Touch', and the 17th, 'No place for a Lady'. Links Kennedy Bay, recently reopened after redevelopment, secured 30th place, priding itself as WA's only true links golf experience.

A surprise inclusion was Whaleback Golf Course in Canning at 88th, reflecting significant investment by the City of Canning. Mayor Patrick Hall noted that over $10 million has been invested since December 2023 to upgrade the course, driving range, and facilities. He said the recognition is evidence that the city is on the right track to create a modern, welcoming golfing facility for everyone.

Despite these inclusions, some popular Perth courses were omitted, including Collier Park Golf Course with its 27 holes, Hammersley Golf Course, The Vines (Lakes), and Kwinana Golf Course. Albany Golf Club in the regions was also overlooked, often considered among the nation's nicer courses.
