Fremantle's 24/7 Golf Gym Makes Sport Accessible For All

A new 24/7 golf gym has opened in Fremantle, offering a flexible and affordable alternative to traditional golf. The venue, Always Golf in O'Connor, was founded by 23-year-old entrepreneur Max McCole, who wanted to make the sport more accessible for everyday life.

McCole, who has played golf since childhood, felt frustrated that the game was too time-consuming and expensive. He opened Always Golf a few months ago with support from his family, who helped with the fit-out including painting, laying carpet, and building a putting area.

The gym operates around the clock for members and features Trackman virtual golf simulators, an indoor putting green, and gym equipment such as a bench press, squat rack, cable machines, and resistance bands. Members book one-hour virtual golf slots online in advance but can use other facilities anytime.

New users can try a free session during staffed hours: weekdays 9am to 4pm and Saturdays 9am to 1pm. McCole aims to help average golfers improve without the high costs and time commitment of traditional golf. The gym currently has 140 members, with a cap planned to avoid overcrowding.

McCole said he took the risk because he is young and had nothing to lose. He hopes to expand to multiple locations in the future but currently enjoys being hands-on as the sole owner and operator.
