Victoria has upset reigning Sheffield Shield holders South Australia at the Adelaide Oval, chasing down 231 for a four-wicket win. Teenager Oliver Peake survived a hat-trick ball on his first delivery and remained unbeaten on 70 from 147 balls, guiding the Vics home with support from Fergus O'Neill (33 not out) in an unbroken 84-run stand.

South Australia quick Jordan Buckingham (3-43) came close to a hat-trick after dismissing Marcus Harris (13) and Peter Handscomb (0) in consecutive balls, but Henry Hunt dropped a sharp chance at short leg off Peake, denying Buckingham and shifting momentum.

New South Wales opened their Sheffield Shield campaign with a 74-run win over Western Australia at the WACA Ground. Chasing 231, WA collapsed for 156, with Liam Hatcher (4-49) leading the Blues attack. Ashton Agar (46) and Joel Paris added 53 for the last wicket before Agar was bowled by Ryan Hadley (3-30).
