Meg Lanning scored an unbeaten 90 in her 100th WBBL game to steer the Melbourne Stars to a 16-run victory over the Perth Scorchers in a rain-affected match in Adelaide.
Lanning, the former Australia captain, was dropped on 18 but went on to hit 90 off 55 balls, propelling the Stars to 4-173. A storm then reduced the Scorchers' target to 95 off nine overs, but the Stars bowled them out for 78, with Sophie Day taking 3-7 and Kim Garth 2-16.
Beth Mooney, fresh off a century, made a brisk 14 before falling to Garth, and wickets tumbled regularly. Annabel Sutherland dismissed Sophie Devine, and the Scorchers never recovered.
Lanning, who retired from international cricket, said she enjoyed finding her rhythm and is relishing her time in the WBBL.
In the second game, the Adelaide Strikers defeated the Melbourne Renegades by seven wickets, with Laura Wolvaardt hitting an unbeaten 71 and Sophie Ecclestone taking 2-24.
