Danni Wyatt was the star of the show, smashing 87 not out off just 56 balls. Her innings included 12 fours and two sixes, as she anchored England's total of 3 for 172 after being asked to bat first. Wyatt found able support from Nat Sciver-Brunt, who contributed a brisk 37 off 28 balls, and captain Heather Knight, who made 25 off 20.
Ireland's bowlers struggled to contain the England batters, with only leg-spinner Cara Murray (1 for 26) and medium-pacer Arlene Kelly (1 for 28) managing to pick up wickets. The rest of the attack proved expensive, as England posted their highest total against Ireland in T20Is.
Spinners Dominate Ireland's Chase
Chasing 173 for victory, Ireland never got going and were bowled out for 90 in 17.2 overs. The England spinners were relentless, with left-armer Sophie Ecclestone leading the way with figures of 2 for 12 from four overs. Off-spinner Charlie Dean also impressed, taking 2 for 18, while leg-spinner Sarah Glenn picked up 2 for 22.
Ireland's top scorer was opener Gaby Lewis, who made 23 off 21 balls, but she received little support from the rest of the batting lineup. The England fielding was sharp, with two run-outs further denting Ireland's hopes.

England captain Heather Knight praised her team's all-round performance after the match. 'It was a really clinical performance from the girls. Danni set the tone with the bat, and then the spinners were outstanding. It's a great way to start the tournament,' she said.
Ireland captain Laura Delany acknowledged that her side were outplayed. 'England were too good today. We didn't execute our plans well enough with the ball, and we didn't bat well enough. We need to learn quickly and move on to the next game,' she admitted.
The win puts England top of Group A, while Ireland will look to bounce back in their next match against Pakistan.
