Former Australian Test cricketer David Warner has been charged with mid-range drink driving after an incident in Sydney's east over the weekend. Police were conducting random breath testing on Malabar Road in Maroubra about 5:30pm on Sunday when a van allegedly stopped short of the site and parked.
Officers approached the vehicle and subjected the 39-year-old driver, confirmed to be Warner, to roadside testing. The test returned a positive result, leading to Warner's arrest and transport to Maroubra Police Station.
Warner has been charged with middle-range drink driving and is scheduled to appear in court in May. He retired from international cricket in 2024 and continues to play in the Big Bash League.
