Canberra Scorer Builds Unmatched Cricket Database

Adam Morehouse has scored more top-grade matches in the ACT than anyone else, but his contribution to cricket extends far beyond the scorer's table. The 49-year-old father of four describes himself as more a statistician than a scorer, having built a massive database containing over 450,000 cricket matches.

Earlier this year, Morehouse scored his 241st first-grade match, breaking the Cricket ACT record. He spent most of his time with Weston Creek-Molonglo before moving to Ginninderra in 2018. His dedication once prompted future Test superstar Nathan Lyon to ask him to switch clubs when Lyon was still a groundsman at Manuka Oval.

Morehouse's database includes every men's and women's international ever played, every first-class match, and scorecards from Twenty20 leagues worldwide. He has chronicled every ball Lyon has bowled in his senior career, from first-grade in Canberra to his international career for Australia.

He is now focusing on grade competitions across Australia, aiming to include Premier Cricket data. 'I can follow someone's career from fifth grade all the way through to internationals or first-class cricket,' Morehouse said.

Despite scoring nearly 250 first-grade games, four Tests, and 17 ODIs, Morehouse has never recorded a hat-trick. 'That's one of the things I've still got to tick off,' he said.
