Perth Wildcats import Kristian Doolittle has claimed the club's MVP award, the Gordon Ellis Medal, after a standout season. Doolittle entered Saturday night's awards dinner as the favorite, having been named to the All-NBL First Team. The Wildcats' MVP award is voted on after every game, distinguishing it from the All-NBL selection process.
Doolittle averaged 16.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game this season. He showcased versatility by guarding the opposition's best player, playing point guard, providing rebounding presence, and scoring when needed. He was also nominated for the NBL MVP and Defensive Player of the Year awards.
Doolittle's defensive prowess earned him the Wildcats' Best Defensive Player award. He signed a three-year contract at the end of last season, committing to becoming a key figure for the club following Bryce Cotton's departure, who had won the MVP award seven times since 2017.
Captain Jesse Wagstaff received the Eric Watterson Medal as the Player's Player, voted by teammates. Wagstaff, who will turn 40 in April, was praised for his leadership, ability to come off the bench, and steadying the team under pressure. He also won the Paul Rogers Medal in the final home and away game for his performance against Adelaide.
David Okwera was named the club's Most Improved Player. His court time doubled to 12 minutes per game, and he became an impact player with aggression, rebounding, and scoring. Okwera began his career at Melbourne United and moved to Western Australia ahead of the 2023-24 season.
The club also inducted former star Martin Cattalini into the Hall of Fame. Cattalini won two championships and represented Australia at the Olympics during his career.
