Simone Biles has expressed gratitude to well-wishers following a serious health scare that left her hospitalized. The seven-time Olympic gymnastics champion took to Instagram on Saturday to share that she had come close to death.
A Shocking Revelation
In an Instagram story, Biles posted a photo of her wrist adorned with multiple hospital bracelets and wrote, "I'm not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today's age, but almost dying wasn't on my bingo card earlier this week." The 29-year-old athlete described the ordeal as "one of, if not the scariest experience of my life."
Husband Away During Crisis
Biles noted that the situation was made even more frightening because her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, was away at a training camp with the Indianapolis Colts. She added, "I've been in bed resting this week. I'll explain sooner or later but shout-out to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited or sent flowers."
Previous Health Struggles
This is not the first time Biles has faced health challenges related to her demanding career. In an interview with L'Equipe last year, she recalled a collapse after the 2024 Olympics. "I went back to the village, I took the elevator and my body literally collapsed. I was sick for 10 days," she said. She also mentioned experiencing aches and pains for three days after sprinting with friends.
Biles, widely regarded as the greatest gymnast of all time, has been open about the physical and mental toll of elite sport. Her latest health scare has prompted an outpouring of support from fans and fellow athletes worldwide.
