Jessica Hull won silver in the women's 1500m at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, breaking the Australian and Oceanian record with a time of 3:59.45. The 29-year-old became the first Australian woman to run under four minutes indoors, finishing 0.92 seconds behind Britain's Georgia Hunter Bell, who set a 2026 world best of 3:58.53.
Hull's silver came a day after she won bronze in the 3000m, giving her two medals from the championships. She said, 'I know my time is coming,' and expressed satisfaction with her consistent podium finishes.
Adam Spencer won a surprise bronze in the men's 1500m, clocking 3:40.26. The 24-year-old Victorian moved from fifth place on the final bend to claim his first global medal. 'I cannot believe I have a world championship medal now,' he said.
Peter Bol set an Oceanian record in the 800m final with 1:45.14 but finished off the podium. In the women's 800m, Hayley Kitching placed fifth in 2:00.50, while Liam Adcock finished 11th in the long jump with 7.92m.
Australia won five medals in total (two silver, three bronze), second only to the United States in total medal count. The team competed over three days in Poland.
