A supermarket worker in Sydney's west escaped injury after a man allegedly attacked him with an axe. The incident occurred at a store on Victoria Road in Ermington around 5:15pm on Friday.
Police reported that the 27-year-old male staff member was targeted by an unknown attacker who attempted to strike him with an axe but failed, fleeing the scene.
Approximately an hour later, police arrested a 59-year-old man on Seamist Avenue, about one kilometer south of the supermarket. An axe was allegedly found nearby.
The suspect was taken to Ryde Hospital for assessment under police guard, later released and charged with affray and armed with intent to commit an indictable offence. He is scheduled to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.
