Georgiades Committed to Port Adelaide, Manager Says Amid Contract Speculation

The manager of Port Adelaide forward Mitch Georgiades has stated that the 24-year-old remains fully committed to the club, despite ongoing speculation about his future. Tom Seccull acknowledged that Georgiades will face decisions regarding his contract, which expires in 2027, but emphasized his current dedication to the Power.

The comments come amid a public dispute between Port Adelaide coach Josh Carr and former assistant Chad Cornes. Cornes, now a media commentator, recently suggested he would be surprised if Georgiades did not seek a trade back to his home state of Western Australia when his contract ends. Carr criticized Cornes for engaging in a “guessing game” about the player’s intentions.

Georgiades, drafted from Subiaco in 2019, has kicked 177 goals in 96 games for Port Adelaide, including 58 last season and 10 so far in 2025. He has attracted long-standing interest from West Coast.

Seccull told SEN that Georgiades is excited about the direction under new coach Josh Carr and feels connected to the group. “He’s a part of their future and Mitch feels connected to the group and a leader at that football club now,” Seccull said.

Cornes responded to Carr’s criticism by asserting that his three years of coaching Georgiades gave him insight into the player’s mindset. “To say I wasn’t always having conversations with Mitchell about all parts of his life is wrong,” Cornes said.
