The Melbourne Demons have moved quickly to appoint Dan Taylor as their new chief executive, replacing Paul Guerra who was sacked after just seven months in the role.
Taylor, a current Demons board member and executive director of streaming service Stan, will take over permanently after interim CEO Brian Cook steps down in a few months. Cook, a former Carlton and Geelong CEO, was named as interim following Guerra's dismissal on Tuesday.
“I am honoured to be appointed as the CEO of the Melbourne Football Club,” Taylor said. “The club has a proud history and clear ambition, and I look forward to working with the board, executive team, staff and players to ensure its ongoing success.”
Demons president Steven Smith praised Taylor's expertise, stating, “Dan has built his career making complex businesses work in competitive environments, and he brings to us the strategic and commercial thinking we need.”
Meanwhile, Guerra is reportedly considering legal action against the club. “It’s been a challenging day. I’m really puzzled by the board’s decision,” Guerra told Channel 7.
