Knights Net Another Dedicated NRLW Sponsor

The Newcastle Knights' NRLW team has secured a new sponsor, with Merewether-based real estate agency Salt Property signing a two-year deal to feature on the side's playing shorts. The announcement follows the recent addition of online fashion retailer The Iconic as a dedicated NRLW sponsor.

Salt Property director Lyndall Allan said the all-female team of 22 staff felt a strong alignment with the Knights. 'It's all about supporting other women and backing ourselves,' Allan said. 'It was a perfect alignment with the Knights.'

The sponsorship comes ahead of the opening women's State of Origin match in Newcastle on Thursday and the start of the Knights' NRLW pre-season training next week. Knights and NSW hooker Olivia Higgins welcomed the growing corporate support for women's rugby league.

'Having both Salt Property and The Iconic shows that they see where the game is heading in the NRLW,' Higgins said. 'They see the value and the potential of what us girls can bring.' Higgins will come off the bench for NSW in the Origin match before beginning training with the Knights ahead of their first match on July 2.

Allan said the sponsorship marked Salt Property's first foray into professional sport, having previously supported community sports teams. 'A big thing for me is showing other women that if I can do it, you can do it too,' she said.
