AFL Journeyman Tom Campbell Retires After 15-Year Career Across Four Clubs

Melbourne veteran Tom Campbell has announced his retirement after 15 years in the AFL, spanning four clubs. The 34-year-old was already ruled out for the season after suffering a torn ligament in his neck at training in January.

Campbell officially confirmed his retirement on Friday, telling teammates it was a poorly kept secret. He played a total of 58 games across his career, beginning at the Western Bulldogs before stints at North Melbourne and St Kilda, and finishing at Melbourne.

Despite never playing a senior game in his two years at the Demons, Campbell was a much-loved member of the squad. He was awarded the Ian Ridley Memorial Trophy at last year's club awards for his outstanding community service.

Melbourne footy boss Alan Richardson praised Campbell's positive impact, calling him a great leader and role model who brought the best out of those around him. Campbell expressed gratitude for the journey, saying the game gave him a mountain of memories.
