AFL 2026 Season Opens with Sevens Live Coverage and Shows

The 2026 AFL season begins with Opening Round on Thursday night, featuring Sydney Swans recruit Charlie Curnow facing his former Carlton teammates. Coverage starts at 7pm AEDT live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport, including Roaming Brian and Extra Time after the final siren.

Pre-season programming kicks off Wednesday night with The Front Bar at 8.30pm, followed by Marching In, a St Kilda special, and the first episode of On The Inside, focusing on Collingwood’s 2025 campaign. Thursday Night Footy is hosted by Rebecca Maddern and Hamish McLachlan, with commentary from Brian Taylor, Kane Cornes, Luke Hodge, Nick Riewoldt, and Mitch Cleary.

Friday night features last year’s grand finalists Geelong against Gold Coast at 7pm AEDT, hosted by Abbey Holmes and James Brayshaw, with commentary from Brayshaw, Alister Nicholson, Matthew Richardson, and Dale Thomas. Sunday night sees St Kilda versus Collingwood at the MCG from 7.30pm AEDT, led by Brayshaw, Cornes, Riewoldt, Taylor, Holmes, and Cleary.

New shows include The Agenda Setters from March 9, airing Monday to Wednesday nights, and Unfiltered, where Hamish McLachlan interviews football stars. State league matches from SANFL and WAFL will be broadcast on Saturdays, and club docuseries for GWS Giants, St Kilda, and Collingwood are available on 7plus Sport.
