Bindoon Terror Accused Hit With Six Charges

A 20-year-old man accused of plotting terrorist attacks in Perth has been hit with six new charges, including possession of child abuse material and violent extremist content. Jayson Joseph Michaels, from Bindoon, appeared in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court via video link on Wednesday.

The new charges include possessing child abuse material on a computer, possessing bulletproof clothing, two counts of possessing violent extremist material, and two counts of attempting to seek objectionable material. Michaels was already facing charges of preparing for a terrorist act, possessing ammunition, and failing to store a firearm properly.

Police allege Michaels planned attacks on Western Australia's Parliament House, police headquarters, and mosques. During a previous bail hearing, the court heard he wanted his so-called 'day of justice' to be worse than the Bondi attack. He allegedly planned to make a gun with a 3D printer and had taken steps to obtain fertiliser.
