Mandurah's First 24-Hour Emergency Vet Hospital Opens

Three Perth veterinarians are opening Mandurah's first 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital, set to begin operations on July 6 in Silver Sands. Dr Sam Jameson, Dr Jackie Robb, and Dr Sam Burke are behind the new venture, which aims to provide round-the-clock emergency care for pets in the region.

Community-Focused Care

The trio also own Port City Emergency Vets, a 24-hour emergency facility serving Fremantle and surrounding communities. Dr Jameson said the new hospital was driven by his experience working in emergency practice in Perth. "There are a lot of cases that require 24-hour care and with having those facilities available, the possibilities of that care are so few and far between," he said. "We are drastically under-serviced and it has a pretty significant impact on case management."

Addressing a Critical Need

Dr Robb noted that Mandurah was a top priority due to its lack of overnight care options. "We’ve done emergency for many years but we always wanted to do Mandurah; it just has so much need, even more than we see at Port City," she said. "There’s nothing down there and nothing south. We work really closely with the primary care or GP vets in the area to support them and right now they have nowhere they can send overnight patients." She added that nearby clinics have been very supportive and are excited to have a referral option.

Experienced Team

Dr Jameson completed a dedicated emergency and critical care internship and has years of emergency centre experience. Dr Robb began in infectious disease research before earning her veterinary degree at Murdoch University and further qualifications in emergency and critical care from the University of Melbourne. Dr Burke has worked in small animal practice and emergency medicine for nearly two decades, previously owning a successful small animal hospital in Sydney for seven years before returning to Perth to focus on emergency and critical care.

Location and Hours

Mandurah Emergency Vets will be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, starting July 6 at 13 Gordon Road, Mandurah. The facility aims to support established local vets by providing emergency treatment day or night.
