Victorian Man Wins $50 Million Powerball Jackpot, Initially Deleted Winning Email

A Victorian man from Wyndham Vale has won the entire $50 million Powerball jackpot, but he almost missed the life-changing news after deleting the first notification email. The man, who purchased a $6.30 ticket for Thursday night's draw, initially dismissed the email as junk mail.

Officials from The Lott were unable to contact him immediately because his ticket was registered with an old phone number. However, a second email prompted him to check the app, where he discovered his win. “I’m in shock,” he said. “I’m just sitting here watching the footy with my son. When my wife gets home, have I got news for her!”

The man revealed he usually plays with birthday numbers but opted for random selections after a small win. He chose number 14 as the Powerball number because it is his favorite football number. The winning numbers for Draw No. 1556 were 5, 6, 18, 9, 14, 4, and 13, with Powerball 14.
