Emily Seebohm Opens Up About Emotional Co-Parenting Christmas

Australian swimming champion Emily Seebohm has shared a raw and emotional glimpse into the realities of co-parenting with a candid video on her Christmas experience. The four-time Olympic swimmer posted a clip of herself crying on TikTok on Christmas Day, admitting it was “hard” to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas morning without her two-year-old son, Sampson.

Seebohm revealed that Sampson spent the lead-up to Christmas with his father, reality TV star Ryan Gallagher, whom she met on The Challenge Australia in 2022. The former couple became engaged soon after and welcomed Sampson in September 2023, but split earlier this year.

In a follow-up TikTok, Seebohm shared that her son returned to her on Christmas Day, but the day was challenging. She wrote that Sampson had a tantrum before coming inside, they arrived late to a family breakfast, and he refused to open his presents. The mood finally improved in the early evening when they went swimming and watched the show Bluey.

Followers offered words of encouragement, with one commenting, “Kids can be difficult but these moments don’t last forever.” Seebohm frequently shares joyful moments with her son on social media, often calling him her “bestie”. She also appears to have moved on personally, recently posting photos with rumoured new partner Brandon Caust.
