Two Men Charged with Manslaughter Over Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on Bruce Highway

Two men have been charged with manslaughter following a head-on collision on the Bruce Highway in Burpengary that killed a 26-year-old Caboolture man in February. The crash occurred when an Isuzu truck traveling the wrong way on the highway struck a Honda car driven by Andre Roberts, who was declared dead at the scene.

A 46-year-old Redcliffe man, who police allege was driving the stolen Isuzu truck, has been charged with one count of manslaughter, as well as multiple property and vehicle-related offenses. A 42-year-old Narangba man, allegedly driving a Ford Ranger that was following the truck, has been charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.

Police allege the truck was stolen from a Hemmant business and was being pursued by several vehicles before the crash. The 46-year-old driver sustained critical injuries and remains in hospital, where he was remanded in custody after a bedside hearing. He is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on May 12.

The 42-year-old Narangba man was arrested on Tuesday and released on bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 13. Detective Inspector David Harbison stated that the alleged acts were so grossly negligent they constitute manslaughter rather than dangerous driving.

Two other men, aged 49 and 36, both from Redcliffe, were previously charged in relation to the stolen truck. Inspector Harbison said Mr. Roberts' family is aware of the proceedings and remains devastated by the loss.
