A tragic accident on Perth's Mitchell Freeway has claimed the life of an 18-year-old man, sparking severe traffic delays across the city. The crash occurred at approximately 10:30am on the northbound carriageway near the Powis Street exit.
Police reported that the driver, the sole occupant of a white Nissan Patrol station sedan, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where he later died.
The Major Crash Investigation Section is investigating the incident and has urged any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers. Main Roads WA has advised drivers to avoid the area and seek alternative routes, with heavy congestion reported stretching back to Hay Street.
The freeway northbound between Southport and Powis streets remains closed as authorities continue their inquiries.
