Two people have died in two separate vehicle accidents in western New South Wales, police have confirmed. A 33-year-old man was killed when his four-wheel-drive was struck by a runaway trailer on the Newell Highway at Tomingley, south of Narromine, at 6:30pm on Friday. The trailer had detached from a ute traveling in the opposite direction, and the 34-year-old driver of the ute was uninjured but taken to hospital for mandatory testing. The highway was closed in both directions for several hours.
In a separate incident on Friday afternoon, a 57-year-old woman died when her car left the road and crashed into bushland at Tambar Springs, 70 kilometres east of Coonabarabran. Police say the woman was treated by paramedics at the scene at 5pm on Premer Road but died. NSW Police are investigating both accidents and are appealing for witnesses.
